This book is on churches and other religious edifices built in the Philippines during the Spanish colonial regime, 1565-1898. It discusses forms, materials and construction techniques of these edifices, along with their furnishings such as religious statuary, paintings and vessels. It provides a framework for "dissecting" colonial church artistic forms and goes beyond standard discussions of church art, which are usually limited to architecture, Santos and icons.
