This is a book which should be warmly welcomed by all who are interested in the history of the saints, the history of education, and the history of religious orders. This book brings out most clearly the manner in which De La Salle came to recognize himself as an instrument of Divine Providence in the creation and nursing in its infancy of this new teaching order of Brothers who were not clerics.
