The book is an English translation of the first biography of St. John Baptist De La Salle written by his close friend Canon John Baptist Blain. Blain spent some 13 years in writing the life of St. La Salle, from 1719-1732.. Volume One, Book One covers the events in De La Salle's life from his birth to the distribution of his wealth to the poor, Book Two is a rather lengthy treatment of St. La Salle's work in establishing a new religious family of teachers in the church. Volume Two portrays St. La Salle as very zealous for the Christian education of the poor. It also dwells on the Founder's spirit and virtues. It also includes a brief accounts on the life of Brother Bartholomew and few of the first Brothers.
