Denis Murphy is the coordinator of Urban Poor Associates. He has lived and worked in the Philippines since 1967. His first collection of stories, The Pope's confessor, was published in 1990 by New Day Publishers and a second collection, The Pope's Woman, by Claretian Publishing House in 1995. A Watch in the Night is his first novel. "For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past and like a watch in the night." (Psalm 90:4) This novel is about religious people caught up in the Martial Law struggle against the Marcos regime.
