For too long now, and for so many people still, the world "revolution," whenever used in the context of social change, has become invariably associated with "armed," "bloody," and "violent," I find this very sad. The word "revolution" simply means "a structural, fundamental change." It does not attach any specific end to that change, nor does it connote any specific means for that change. Arms is not essential to a revolution. In fact, arms is contradictory to a genuine revolution. --From the introduction
