Chinese-Philippine drama has long been neglected in Philippine drama. This study takes the initial step in making Filipino readers aware of the existence of Chinese-Philippine drama as a minority drama, contributing to the wealth of Philippine drama. Moreover, the Chinese-Philippine plays depict values, traditions, and experiences which will help enrich Philippine culture.This thesisChinese-Philippine drama has long been neglected in Philippine drama. It discusses the development of Chinese-Philippine drama, presents the different Chinese-Filipino playwrights, and provides the synopses of their plays. In addition, it identifies and analyzes the Chinese-Philippine experiences in four selected plays within the context of social history. This method of analysis is patterned after that of Elaine Kim in Asian American Literature: An Introduction to the Writings and Their Social Context (1982).Lastly, this study paves the way for future interest in Chinese-Philippine drama. It serves as a reference to interested students and researchers embarking on the field of research/study in Chinese-Philippine literature.
