Contains featured articles about the political, social,and economic conditions of the Philippines,but occasionally it touched on events happening in the other Spanish colonies.It ran a column of current news ,both foreign and local printed speeches made by prominent Spanish leaders about the Philippines,and information on the whereabouts,achievements,and social doings of Filipinos at home and abroad.It also provided the Filipinos a means of combating allegations of the counter-propagandists,like Wenceslao Retana(Desengaños)and Pablo Feced(Quioquiap),who were believed to have been under the pay of the friars.The content of the book was originally in Spanish texts and was translated to English by Guadalupe Fores-Ganzon.
