This Modern Day Parable Series is a cooperative publishing project between Cacho Publishing House Inc. and Sonolux Asia to provide children's picture books that promote the teaching of Christian values which are inspired by Holy Scripture and the teachings of Christ. The first four titles, namely, The Broken Bamboo, The Seed, The Door and The Eagle in the Chicken Yard deal with the importance of self-service, obedience, prudence, proper relations with others and the discovery of one's potential. These stories have been adapted from the highly successful sound slide presentations of Sonolux Asia, seen and enjoyed by numerous schoolchildren all over the country, following Sonolux Asia's mission to promote Christian values through the enlightened use of media. To further extend this reach, this Modern Day Parable Series provides parallel texts in English and Filipino, the original being in English and the literary translation in Filipino. These books may be used independently or together with the sound-slide presentations, thus providing teachers, parents and students with the chance to read, learn and reflect in two languages. --Back cover of the book
