All of California is here. Los Angeles, of course, and San Francisco, and San Jose and Sacramento-and little places like Adin and Happy Camp. And the people, too-not only Hispanics and Chinese and Anglos, but Arabs and Hmong and "all the rest." A glance at the index reveals that totality of coverage. Truly this is a book that belongs on the reference shelf of every California home. The authors contend that they have provided a "work that can be read pleasurably by those who wish to amplify their knowledge of the Golden State. It's appropriate that the office of the State Librarian and U.C.'s Bancroft Library have both cited the predecessional work as a bsic source book on California Segments of this book and predecessorial California, Land of Contrast have been reviewed for the authors by 69 authorities on their areas. Book and dustcover are in very good general condition but there are occasions of bluehighlighting in the first chapter concerning the extreme Northeast.
