It is a record of 500 years, and brings together events, ideas, laws, and legislation, as well as literature, that have either been long obscured or left in historical limbo. The arrangement is chronological by year: from 1441, then the Portuguese began the slave trade by importing Africans into Europe, to 1968, when 1702 Negroes held elective or appointive positions in govenment below the federal level
