| Summary, etc. | PSME realized that with this new law comes a wealth of new opportunities for the advancement of the mechanical engineering profession and the professionals. The legislation serves as a catalyst in upgrading the mechanical engineering profession so it may cope with its role in nation building. The new law strengthens the licensing and regulation of the new professional practice of mechanical engineering and mandates the revision of the tertiary mechanical engineering curriculum to be more responsive to changing needs in the market place to BSME graduates. It also widens scope of mechanical engineering practice with the inclusion of among others, the academe, renewable sources of energies, and mobile mechanical driven equipment. It likewise institutes the development of a continuing professional education program by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in coordination with PSME, the accredited association of mechanical engineers to ensure the attainment of professional excellence. --Foreword of the book |
