520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. A survey of 200 Filipino females working the Tokyo area was conducted. Results revealed that the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the respondents predisposed them to their labor mobility. The women were mostly young, single, and well educated. However, majority of the parents were unemployed or involved in the service occupations. Paternal income was generally low. Family size was large eldest and the respondents were either the eldest or second eldest among the siblings. Most of the women had not been working prior to leaving for Japan. Their decision to migrate had been made jointly with the family such that costs were shared in a calculated strategy bound by intrinsic intertemporal contractual arrangements.
