This book by the well-known art historian Amadis Ma. Guerrero redress a historical anomaly: the utter neglect of the painter and muralist Amadeo Y. Manalad, a contemporary - and- peer of the National artists Carlos V. Francisco and Vicente Manansala. It is a modest book, as befits its subject: a diffident and tentative man who might have become as renowned as his friends and rivals, had he not been so self-effacing and unassertive.
