Its thesis is that martial law became a moral and political necessity under the peculiar circumstances this country found itself on the eve of September 21, 1972. More than a mere justification of martial law in the Philippines, it offers the philosophy and ideology of those who seek to restructure Philippine society. It relates the background of the rightist and leftist rebellion, the secessionist movement in the South, private armies, political overlords, economic oligarchs, criminal syndicates, and feudalistic economic system. The purpose of this book, then, is to offer mankind the Philippine experience as a less costly and time-consuming means, a more graceful and more effective, because constitutional, method of recreating a society that recognizes freedom and values-the individual. |
