Summary, etc. |
The purpose of this book is to present to you the U.S. immigration laws. It covers what many people believe to be the most important topics, and it attempts to answer the most frequently asked questions that they have about this field. Although it serves the needs of many aliens, this book is not comprehensive. For in immigration law, every case is unique. Therefore, it is impossible to even try to fit into 380-plus pages all the situations that have arisen and are likely to arise concerning immigration. This book serves as a basic guide to aliens and their sponsors. It explains the significant U.S. immigration laws and describes the related processes involved, from entering the United States to applying for naturalization. By reading this book, any alien or sponsor can file his or her immigration papers and save a lot of money on attorney's fee. However, this applies only to simple, straightforward cases. There are countless cases which are not simple or easy. This is why this book could not be titled "Immigration Made Simple" or "Immigration Made Easy," as some colleagues have suggested. In this regard, this book is not a substitute for legal counsel. In difficult, complicated cases, an alien and his or her sponsor should seek the services of an attorney. Attorneys generally explain the immigration laws to their clients. But because attorneys use another language (called "legalese"), clients, especially those whose knowledge of English is limited, usually do not understand the explanations. --Foreword of the book. |
