520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. and Gecarcinidae MCLEAY, 1838. Two Potamid crabsare identified as Ovitamon sp. nov.(?)(from Ternate, Cavite, STAR) and another unidentified Ovitamon sp. (from Sulong Falls, San Moguel, Catanduanes Island in BICR). Although, the specimens examined from Cavite showed some striking morphological similarities with Ovitamon artifrons BURGER, 1894, the structure of male gonopodium (G1) does not resemble that of the specimens described previously from Tagaytay by Ng & Takeda (1992). A new endemic species Ovitamon cavitiensis (sp. nov.?) is proposed hereto, which will require a detailed ultrastructural morphology of the sperm transfer tubes in male G1. Two riverine crabs belonging to the family Parathelphusidae are tentatively reported here as Sundathelphusa sp. 1 (from the ricefields of Guimba, Nueva Ecija, CLUZ) Sundathelphusa sp.2 (from Mondaca, Tarlac, CLUZ). Out of the three species of the widely distributed grapsid crabs of the genus Varuna H. MILNE EDWARDS, 1830 two species are reported here (Varuna litterata FABRICIUS, 1798 and V. altimana). Among the semi-terrestial crabs, Sesarmops (Sesarma) impressum H. EDWARDS, 1887 (from Maragondon, Cavite, STAR and Lictin River in San Andres, Catanduanes, BICR) and Cardisoma carnifex HERBST, 1794 (from Balayan, Batangas, STAR) are also described in this report.

Summary, etc. The freshwater and semi-terrestial crabs of the Luzon Biogeographic Province (LBP) were studied on the basis of field collections carried out from March to september 2004 in selected areas of Southern Tagalog Region or STAR (Cavite and Batangas), Bicol Region or BICR (Albay, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes) and Central Luzon or CLUZ (Nueva Ecija and Tarlac). A total of 116 crab samples were obrtained, preserved and diagnosed in the laboratory for taxonomic characters. Eight taxa are reported and described here. The crabs identified belong to four (4) families, namely: Potamidae ORTMANN, 1896
