520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. God Was Not In The Wind is a modest contribution to a scanty pool of biology-based theological reflections on popular religion in the Philippines. Traditionally, theology was using philosophy as its framework in seeking understanding for the given faith and recently theology has turned to the social sciences for the same purpose. In this work the biological theory of evolution is the model. The dynamics of popular religion expressed in religious and moral practices in interpreted according to evolutionary principles. Its complex of religious beliefs and ethics has arisen from the "evolutionary push" for adaptation to its environment but it is also the outcome of a "mysterious pull" coming from what believers call God. Observing the patterns of creative evolution, the believer discovers that the divine role is not an invasive wind of coercion but the gentle breeze of persuasion, allowing us and nature to become.
