520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The study is composed of two parts: part 1 was a survey method on the profile of the day-care children and of their parents. Part two was pre-experimental using one group pretest-posttest design in order to determine the difference in the mean scores of the 12 participants before and after attending the corrective instruction on letter recognition. After a careful analysis of the findings of the study, it was concluded that parents play a very important role in developing emergent literacy among their children. The success of learning to read is dependent on the cooperative effort of the parents and day-care workers. In this regard, it is recommended that campaign programs for the important role of parents in their children's emergent literacy be conducted by private and non-private sectors.
