520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This book is meant to encourage further investigation of issues the Rowan account raises. Two of these issues can be cited. One is the nature of historical representation, and the factors that allow certain representations to be more dominant than others. Another has to do with the practice of military science, which Rowan memorializes in great detail, but is largely absent in the Cebuano accounts. Rowan speaks out of an American military tradition that, while relatively young at the time of the Spanish-American War, was already quite self-assured in its power. On the other hand, the question of Filipino acknowledge of modern warfare at the time of the war against the Americans remains a largely uninvestigated subject. This critical sourcebook is a fresh and important contributions to the history of the Filipino-American War.
