520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Surveying, a means of making relatively large-scale, accurate measurements of the of the Earth's surfaces. It includes the determination of the measurement data, the reduction and interpretation of the data to usable form, and, conversely, the establishment of relative position and size according to given measurement requirements. Thus, surveying has two similar but opposite functions: The determination of existing relative horizontal and vertical position, such as that used for the process of mapping and, the establishment of marks to control construction or to indicate land boundaries. Chain survey is the simplest method of surveying. In this survey only measurements are taken in the field, and the rest work, such as plotting calculation etc. Chain surveying is most suitable adapted to small plane areas with verry few details. If carefully done, it gives quite accurate results. Plane table is s graphical method of surveying in which the field works and the plotting is done simultaneously. It is particularly adopting in small mapping. Plane table surveying is used for locating the field computation of area of field. It is particularly adapted for small or medium scale mapping in which great accuracy is not required. Engineering surveying, involves the measurement of three quantities
