This book, Sociology and Anthropology: An Introduction is an introductory text that aims to meet the need for a textbook on socio-anthropology designed for Filipino students and other readers in search of knowledge and understandings on society, culture and social stratifications. This book was conceived out of the authors' interest and experiences in teaching social sciences in several institutions like the Philippine National Police Academy, and National Police College. The different topics are presented in a simple but comprehensive format. Current international and domestic social issues are included to make the text more substantial and meaningful. This book is so designed that facts are presented in a concise manner which would make it as "user friendly" as possible. Important aspects of socio-cultural anthropology have been organized in such a way as to allow flexibility in its use. The topics are so selected such that they would be of great value to students taking up sociology as a basic and general subject. The content would be a helpful guide to students in their pursuit to become responsible members of society and eventually leaders of the country. It is envisioned that this book may equip the students with necessary socio-cultural information and facts that would lead them to attain academic excellence and be socially, intellectually, and spiritually fit in the society or collectivity they are in. It is hoped that through this book, the teachers, students, researchers and others who may use it will enhance their interest and quench their intellectual thirst for more knowledge. --Preface of the book.
