A complete floral encyclopedia. The descriptions of around 1,200 species are complete and scrupulous in detail with emphasis on their medical value. It was the first extensive study made on the flora of the archipelago, where it describes and classifies about 1,200 herbal species, giving their botanical properties, application and medicinal qualities. The writings showed a deep understanding of natural science and an uncommon power of observation.
