Philippine Women's University, as institution and edifice, bears active witness to the flux of our often contradictory and sometimes violent national formation. Its story, mirroring the hopes and struggles of our nation's experience, spans three generations and 75 years. National Artist Nick Joaquin, brings to life the story of PWU as seen by those from the institution itself: its administrators, faculty, and students. Though constrained by document lost in fire and war, by memories dulled by time, still Joaquin has succeeded in weaving the strands of the PWU story into a history worthy of the institution's past and future.
