The forty lesson modules presented in this book are primarily designed to equip the student with an adequate knowledge necessary to the understanding and appreciation of computers as data processing tools and of the fundamental concepts of electronic data processing. It aims to provide adequate computer literacy to students who are only beginning to learn and understand the highly technical field of computer science. The prepared course of study is ideally suited for teaching those who have no previous knowledge of and exposure to computers, and who also have no computer programming background. The different lessons focus on major topics such as data processing, history and classification of computers, capabilities and limitations of computers, computer systems hardware, data recording, media, computer systems software, algorithms and flowcharts, number systems, and an introduction to BASIC language programming.
