Summary: The dance forms part of our precious heritage and reflects the diversity and richness of Philippine culture in music, sound, color, rhythm and costumes. In the early years of the American Occupation, the National Artist Francisca Aquino pioneered in documenting for posterity our proud heritage in indigenous dances. The result of her prodigious research that took her to some of the remotest areas of our islands are contained in several volumes that faithfully record Philippine dance forms, its intricate steps, the accompanying music and symbolic rituals. This volume hopes to provide insights into one of the most significant arts of the Philippines - dance. It's also hopes that this book will build bridges of friendship and goodwill and international understanding between the peoples of Japan and the Philippines.
