Published with the cooperation of the Southern Philippines Foundation for the Arts, Culture and Ecology, Department of Tourism, Philippine Airlines and the Don Antonio D. Floirendo Sr. Foundation.
The book captures the beauty and charm of Mindanao today, without varnishing over her wrinkles and scars. This is best done through imagery, through the picture that speaks a thousand words. Images and texts cluster around the islands: its nature-blessed environment, its vibrant history and its engaging mix of people. The book paints a quick but accurate sketch of Mindanao, the traditional home of more than a dozen ethnolinguistic groups and the adopted home of million of settlers who have embraced this land as their true home. It captures a land, dynamic but in transition, caught in the struggle between development and the preservation of its rich resources of nature and persons, caught in the struggle of who shall lead this land and shape its destiny.
