The intense religiosity of Kapampangans even to this day can be seen in well- preserved churches which are filled to capacity on holy days, and in the pomp and pageantry of church rituals matched only by the fervor of folk expressions. As it turned out, their fidelity to the Church has been laid out long ago not only by the Spanish friars but, more significantly, by early Kapampangans themselves, who heroically overcame obstacles of race, class and gender to become the country's first missionaries, first seminarians, first chaplains, first pastors and first doctors in the ecclesiastical sciences.Dr. Luciano P.R. Santiago's book introduces previously unknown Kapampangan men and women, their unique stories-sources of inspiration for the laity and the clergy, and for Kapampangans as well as the rest of the country.
