The selections included in this volume are from writing fellows, writers in residence, and teaching staff of the workshops held by the U.P. Department of English in Baguio (165), Los Baños (1967), Iloilo (1969), and Cebu (1971). The advent of martial law in 1972 interrupted the regular holding of the workshop. It was not until 1974 that the next one was held. By 1980, the task of conducting the workshop went to the newly formed U.P. Creative Writing Center.
