This volume is a sequel to the Research Report I (published in 1979) and Research Report II (published in 1983) which are granted by the Ministry of Education. It is to conclude the series of research projects which aim at clarifying the structure of the traditional society in the Philippines and making a synthetic study of the process of its socio-cultural transformation. The common topics in this survey are family and kinship system, value system, socio-political leadership, structure of settlement, world view, customary law and material culture in relation to changes which occured after the proclamation of Martial Law in 1972. --From the Foreword of the book
