IBON Facts & Figures is published twice a month by IBON Databank Philippines, Inc., an independent, non-stock, non-profit institution founded in 1978 with the aim of popularizing socio-economic data and analysis. Each issue is a result of weeks of data-gathering and selection, discussion and writing by a staff of young and qualified economists. The aim is to present economic information, culled from various government and non-government periodicals and documents, in a more digestible form, situating these among other developments in society. At the end of each year, the 24 issues produced within the year are bound in book form like the present volume. Each volume becomes a quick and handy reference material which includes a table of contents, a guide to abbreviations of sources, a list of tables and a subject index. This is the eight volume to be published, containing all the 1985 issues of Facts & Figures starting from number 154 until number 177. IBON Databank Phils., Inc. engages not only in the publication of socio-economic information but also in its documentation and analysis. The institution maintains a databank consisting of a wide collection of assorted documents, periodicals (newspapers, journals, magazines, newsletters), books and newsclipping files of the major dailies. The IBON Databank information system serves the internal needs of IBON researchers as well as those of outside individuals, groups and institutions. In 1985 the databank helped a number of labor unions, action groups, professionals and other distinguished persons, to undertake various aspects of their research work. -Foreword of the book
