The novel discusses Sabah, as a land above the wind, a land covered with lush forests and sea-swept shores. Here people go out in boats to fish. Their houses, raised above the shore waters on stilts, provide easy access to the sea. These are the Badjaos, descendants of a race that originally came from farther south.
