This is a compilation of six research projects conducted by Surian ng Wikang Pambansa over a period of five years. The Manila Dialect Survey sought to identify the variety of Spoken in the City of Manila. The Preferred Alphabet Survey aimed to know which among five alphabet models was preferred by respondents from the 13 regions of the country. Language and Socioeconomic Development in the Countryside is about perceptions of language to be used in communicating information about forestry, agriculture, fishing, livestock raising, business and education and the relationship between language use and socioeconomic development. Degree of Survival of Terminoloies Proposed by SWP sought to find out if the intended users of Mga Katawagan sa Edukasyong Bilinggwal actually use this SWP Publication in bilingual education. Number Naming in Different Situations aimed to identify the language used in naming numbers when buying/selling/paying/asking and other activities involving numbers. Radio/TV Broadcast in Pilipino studies the variety of Pilipino used in radio and television broadcasts. It is hope that this volume will hep researchers, educators and language planners in their search for materials on which to base further sociolinguistic studies.
