The content of these poems ranges over a rather vast area. Some major pieces deal with the legend of well-known places like Mt. Arayat, in which folklore combines geography, geology, the common people's means of livelihood, history, agrarian-political unrest and rebellion, and a methodology of benign or irate gods of the mountain. It may be said that the integrative format of the legend of Mt. Arayat is the prototype of the poet's prevailing intellectual and emotional concern throughout the poems.
