In Biyaheng Timog, Cyril Perez, a painter and the outsider in the family, is a variant of Don Diego, the second son who also turns into stone, He comes to terms with the reality that true love and true life have concomitant shadows that require painful sacrifices. In Sa North Diversion Road, Perez sees the husband Lalaki,un-named until the last scene when he is finally identified as Tony, a pop music composer, as the Prince Juan who ironically discovers that the Bird of Love is not necessarily the Bird of Life.
