and Part 1 Section 3 is a collection of philosophical papers that represent some originality in contemporary Filipino thinking. Part 11 reflects the present state of hermeneutical investigation of the Filipinos' languages and oral traditions, while Part 111 enters the field of philosophizing by interpreting aspects of what is traditionally called Eastern and Western philosophy. George F. McLean, OMI Catholic University of America
Part 1, Section 2 focuses on the search of philosophy in the Philippines for universal answers to universal philosophical problems
If "people power" is the Filipino gift to the modern theory of revolution, this project of three parts on Filipino philosophy is a parallel gift in the field of philosophy. It fits well into the series on "Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Change" of the Council for Research in Values and Philosophy (CRVP) with some 33 volumes from Central and Eastern Europe and another 40 from Asia, with yet others from Africa, Latin America and Islamic countries. This project takes a decisive step ahead in this search. Part 1, Section 1 is a historical overview of Filipino philosophy in modern times in relation to its socio-political context
