Rolando Gripaldo examines contemporary philosophies of history as reflected in the works of Fukuyama, de la Vega, Hegel, Nietzsche, Foucault, Gadamer, Guha and Iggers. He also argues that "cultural identity grounded on cultural integrity" is acceptable by the local people and foreigners. Importantly, he pushes to adopt the "Filipino nationalist ideology" which he believes will make the Philippines a First World country.
