Ana Valdes-Lim Ana Valdes-Lim started out as a shy, struggling student in New York. She could not decide whether to pursue dance or drama. Her journey became clearer after four years, when she was the first Filipina to graduate from theater division of the Juilliard School. She began her career acting with John Houseman's The Acting Company and Joe Papps Public Theater. Ana received a grant from the Juilliard School and the Fox Foundation to write her first book, Workshop : A Manual or Acting. She taught acting for Tanghalang Pilipino, CCP, Atlantis Rep, Ateneo, New Voice, and PETA. She is the Artistic Director of METTA. The Marie Eugenie Theater of the Assumption College and directs her own Improv troupe for Philippine Playhouse. Ana lives Manila with her husband and two sons. About the book There is no acting formula, and no directing "key." Evolutionary Theater is a book of exercises and techniques to help actors, teachers, and directors get started and dive deeper into the process. It's called Evolutionary Theater because the process evolves and gets better. It's not about being the best actor, or getting to an end result. It is more a continuous process of exploration.
