This monograph offers an effective and practical approach to facilitate reading on Luigi Pirandello's works. Using the Structuralist models of Todorov, Saussure, and Troubetzkoy in disclosing the recurring theme in the ten short stories, teachers of English especially at secondary schools will discover a means to resolve issues on whether to sacrifice the essence of Literature over lessons on language in an English Communication Arts classroom where the interface of language and literature approach is commonly practiced. The quite technical discussions on the linguistic features of the texts followed by their philosophical inclinations, that is rather referred to as the Pirandellan Aesthetics, in itself is an interesting interplay to witness and experience. Joanne Pajarito Pegiña is faculty of the Languages & Literature Department at De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. She was awarded the degree Master of Arts in Teaching Literature by the Philippine Normal University. Feminist readings, and Literary Theories and Criticism are her areas of interest. The Portrait of the 21st Century Filipina debuts her as Feminist writer.
