Summary: This 3rd edition presents the Republic Act No. 9593 also known as "The Tourism Act of 2009" which is landmark legislation for tourism. Changes have been made particularly on Chapter II entitled "Government Involvement in Tourism" R.A. 9593 introduced many changes in the structure of the Department of Tourism. The tourism promotions have been transferred to the newly-created body "Tourism Promotions Board" which replaced the Philippine Conventions and Visitors Corporation. Likewise, the former Philippine Tourism Authority is now replaced by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
