It is a pity that Elmer Ordoñez wrote no more than the seven stories in this book. They are personal accounts, disguised as fiction, of his experiences of war, exile, and rebellion. Despite the subject and theme, they are told quietly, in plain prose. All of them are deeply felt and disturbing . . . (they) testify to honest sentiments (not found) in most of the literature of the genre that had been produced these past many years. (Source: http://www.anvilpublishing.com)
