A joint project of University of San Carlos and Holy Name University in cooperation with the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Province of Bohol.
Includes bibliographical references (page 234) and index.
The book is a 240-page full color on the parish churches of both the Diocese of Tagbilaran and the Diocese of Talibon that were impacted in one way or another by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Bohol and Cebu on October 15 2013. The word "Pagsulay" is the Bol-anon and Cebuano word for a test or a trial and was chosen as the book's main title because the devastating tremor ought to be seen as a text of the faith and resilience of the people of Bohol. Over 500 full-color photographs taken a month after the earthquake by two renowned photographers provide the reader with dramatic images of devastation as well as hope. Together with these images is an ample discussion of the history of the churches, convents, and cemeteries that are included in the book. The end goal of the book is not only to provide current and future generations with a glimpse of what have been lost but also to help raise funds to repair and rehabilitate those have managed to survive against all odds.
