The new law strengthens the licensing and regulation of the new professional practice of mechanical engineering and mandates the revision of the tertiary mechanical engineering curriculum to be more responsive to changing needs in the market place to BSME graduates. It also widens scope of mechanical engineering practice with the inclusion of among others, the academe, renewable sources of energies, and mobile mechanical driven equipment. It likewise institutes the development of a continuing professional education program by the Board of Mechanical Engineering in coordination with PSME, the accredited association of mechanical engineers to ensure the attainment of professional excellence. --Foreword of the book
