It is indeed a great pleasure to present the edition of this comprehensive books. The subject of earthquake resistant building construction is evolving daily in the sense that more and more seismic data is available everyday on account of various earthquakes occuring worldwide. As a result of this additional data and further knowledge and experience gained. Bureau of Indian Standards have revised the codes related to Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures recently. To incorporate the provisions of these latest Indian Standards, this edition of the book is very much needed.
