N2  - The Balikbayan leaders of the US-based Ninoy Aquino Movement have announced their plan to celebrate a Peace and Freedom Week from August 18 to 24 as their contribution to the observance of 1986, the International Year of Peace. One presumes that in the organizers' minds, freedom refers to the February victory over the dictatorship which Ninoy, the central figure in the week's various activities, set in motion with his death. Peace, on the other hand, embodies the idea of national reconciliation with the so called loyalists, the Muslims and the Communist Party. It is right that peace and freedom should go together for there can be no peace without freedom and no without peace. In view of the forthcoming celebration it is important that we clarify just what peace and freedom should mean for our people today and what problems stand in the way of the attainment of these two basic goals. --First page of the book
