It is arguably the best book on qualitative research written in the Philippines. As such, in tandem with its companion volume, Selected Readings on Health and Feminist Research: A Sourcebook, it is able to put feminism beyond catchwords into a point of what may be called "Intellectualization" and thus enriches social research science in general. I recommend it for all social research methods classes; While consciously a handbook for feminist research, this volume, which won the National Academy of Science and Technology 2001 Outstanding Book Award, introduces research designs, techniques, and methods relevant, even indegenous , to the Philippine situation. It does more than teach readers how to do any research
