Bautista is Professor Emeritus at De La Salle University. She finished her PhD in linguistics at the Ateneo de Manila University _ Philippine Normal College Consortium and did postdoctoral studies in sociolinguistics at Georgetown University and the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a visiting professor at Ohio University, the University of Michigan, the University of Hawaii, and Waseda University. She has written a number of articles and books on sociolinguistics, especially Tagalog-English code-switching and Philippine English, and she was the project director of the Philippine component of the international Corpus of English project. Her current research activities center on descriptive and comparative studies of Philippine English. ER -
