Summary: Travel and Tour Operations in the Philippines is valuable in that it contains perspectives and insights drawn from years of experience by Mr. Bienvenido Claravall as he actively participates in the development of the tourism industry. As a teacher, Mr. Claravall knows how students should be trained so that knowledge, skills and orientation in his class can be instruments in preparing them for meaningful work in the industry. There were many occasions when I was told by our alumni about the immediate applicability of lessons learned in Mr. Clavall's class. I salute the discipline, the determination, the patience and the willingness of Mr. Claravall to write and update a book on a subject matter that he has mastered. The example set by Mr. Claravall and a limited number of academicians in the industry is a challenge especially for those who through the years were limited to crafting course outlines, presenting articles in seminars/ conferences/workshops and publishing materials in journals. MA. CORAZON P. RODRIQUEZ Dean, Asian Institute of Tourism (AIT) University of the Philippines Sytem Deliman, Quezon City Mr. Clavall's deep insight of the travel and tourism business shows in the substance of this book, and his sharing of many years of experience as a practitioner and academician, enriches and provides unpalarallel breadth and depth to its content. This book will give the reader an understanding of the dynamics of the tourism industry and a set of guidelines on the processes, procedures and practices in the travel and tours business. The book is well written in a casual style that makes easy reading for tourism students and travel practitioners. I wish to congratulate Mr. Bien Claravall for his continuing contribution to the education and training of tourism industry workers, in particular in the area of travel management and tour operations. JOSE C. CLEMENTE III President Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) (2006 2008) It is a very Comprehensive reference. DANIEL G. CORPUZ Executive Director Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation (PCVC)
