The authors, who covered the events that led to Erap's ouster, have reproduced their respective accounts from Day 1 of the political drama to the end of the Erap reign on January 20, 2001 when he hurriedly left Malacañang Palace via the backdoor on a barge with his family and close supporters. This writer, Oscar S. Villadolid, recorded his observations and comments as a regular columnist of Sun Star Manila. It tells of how Erap betrayed the Filipino people and his struggle to hold desperately on to power. Alice Colet Villadolid, a feature writer, narrates the Erap tale in a series of articles in Chapter II that were earlier published by the Philippine Graphic Weekly magazine. Both Sun Star Manila and Philippine Graphic have agreed to the compilation of these pieces in this book.
