Filipino Identity in the Arts is a course designed to nurture the learners appreciation for artistic traditions in the Philippines. Created for senior high school students in the Arts and Design Track, the book provides a summative discussion on Filipino identity in the arts with an emphasis on individual human agency and the uniqueness of each person. Art form, process, and material or intangible cultural properties are explored vis a vis parameters that include ethnicity, social relations, and others. The book includes a survey of artistic creations that are embedded in particular cultural and geographical characteristics. While ideation exercises in artistic creation are meant to allow the student to explore the artistic traditions in their locale, analytical approaches to art are encourgae so that the student has the opportunity to use higher order skills.
