Brother Potamian belonged to that race of schoolmasters who have achieved eminence in their profession, and who exercised that peculiar compelling influence over the minds of boys which causes them to be remembered. But he was something more. Besides being a great religious educators, he was a scientist of considerable repute, and this accounted in no small measure for the respect in which he was held.
